Trying new approaches is always interesting and equally as important. As a Country we are still very much in the learning zone when it comes to this invasive species and its living qualities. Does it die off over the winter period? Is chemical application limited in the winter months? Does the plant lie
dormant for several months? Let’s try and find out!
The Catchwater Drain is a drain off the main Fossdyke channel and with booms in place to contain the Floating Pennywort, this winter we are trialling removing the Floating Pennywort by physical means – by hand!
It’s a delicate and intricate job but early signs would point towards success.
Look out for next month’s update!
