Our fish and invertebrate Habitat Enhancement Project at North Hykeham is now complete!
Working with East Mercia Rivers Trust, we have designed, built and installed 17 fish refuges along a stretch of the River Witham that severely lacks habitat.
These structures are made out of natural materials and offer habitat and shelter for fish and invertebrate species as well as soft toe erosion protection.
The brushwood structures will collect silt over time, whilst the natural materials will gradually rot, leaving formed, wet margins below the waterline, creating and supporting additional habitat.
